Mom's Farm Site at Renwer, Manitoba

Renwer, Manitoba, Canada
Tractor Garage

We visited the farm site where Mom was born and raised. As a family, we spent a lot of time there in our younger years. For me, as a child, it was a magical place of fields, gardens, woods, cows, pigs, and chickens. It was a place for play and exploration. The reality, however, was that life was tough, full of hard labour, harsh temperatures, and hard living. Anytime we visit the farm site, it's a stark reminder to me about how lucky our generation is today.

The garage for the car now has trees growing up through the building. As a child, that is where we went to get the baseball bat and rubber ball that we used to play with.

The Renwer Church is now home to swallows.

Mom is checking out the living room of the house where she was raised. As a child, the living room seemed so large to me. Now, it seems so tiny. Built in 1942, it still has the original cedar shingles on the roof.

The cupboards in the kitchen are still hanging and looking good.

Graineries still standing.
