We Bought Property in Ecuador
It's official. We have purchased over 2,200 square metres of land on the outskirts of Cotacachi, Ecuador!
We're not quite ready to retire, but we want to begin the process of buying land now. This gives us a longer timeframe to develop our dream home and property for when we eventually do retire.
The Land Itself...
The lot spans 2,332 square meters of fertile, volcanic soil. A small stream flows along its southern border, running from west to east. To the north and west are fields where dairy cattle graze, while a farm lies to the southwest. An open field, also home to grazing cows and horses, can be found to the southeast, with another field situated across a small public road to the east.

The orange line pointing northwest aims towards Mama Cotacachi, a dormant volcano soaring to 4,944 meters (16,220 feet) above sea level, last active 2,000 to 3,000 years ago.
Meanwhile, the sun rises over Papa Imbabura (indicated by the orange line to the southeast), another dormant volcano standing 4,609 meters (15,121 feet) tall, which last erupted around 5550 BCE.
